Biden disputes Zelenskyy comments over Ukrainian defense missile landing in Poland, cites 'evidence'

President Biden Thursday disputed comments made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who remains confident that the "explosion" that killed two in Poland did not come from a Ukrainian missile.

"That’s not the evidence," Biden told reporters from the South Lawn after arriving in Washington shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Zelenskyy on Wednesday countered comments from NATO and Polish officials who said preliminary evidence suggested the "explosion" that killed two Poles in the village of Przewodow, roughly 30 miles from the Ukrainian border, likely came from Ukraine’s air defense system.

FIRED BY RUSSIA

"I have no doubt this was not our missile and not our missile strike," Zelenskyy reportedly told Ukrainian media from a news conference in Kyiv, adding he had been given assurances from his top commanders.

The tragic event Tuesday sparked international furor after one anonymous U.S. official apparently inaccurately told The Associated Press that a Russian missile had struck NATO territory – sparking immediate concern over how the member nations would react.

Zelenskyy later acknowledged that it could not be ruled out that debris from its air defense system crashed into Poland after Russia carried out dozens of strikes across Ukraine earlier this week.

Either a Russian missile overshot its target or a Ukrainian anti-missile went awry. Neither country had any interest in attacking a Polish farm.

S300s of the ones Ukraine has have a range of 90 to 150 miles. The nearest Russian positions are 450 miles away. Zelinsky the retard should just admit the obvious. Nobody would even care if a SAM went errant when shot at incoming missiles. It happens… but he has to lie and keep up his “perfection” propaganda.

The first thread I saw about this missile strike had pretty much every freeper crying Russia did it and they must die. I hope some of them learn a lesson here.

It’s the same dozen or so asshats that want WWIII.

One FReeper even wrote they would prefer global nuclear war to allowing Russia to keep any Ukrainian land.

Genius!…

Supposedly, Ukrainian S-300 missile systems employ an algorithm that causes them to self-destruct in the air if they miss their target , disallowing destruction on the ground in the event of misses. Russian versions however have had that algorithm disabled or adjusted ,allowing them to be used as ground strike weapons.

My understanding is this was one of the really old ones with a range of only 120km. But even if a newer one, still way of range from Russian positions. It was likely an oopsie, not deliberate. Still, all this hollering “Russia did it!” and Article 5 is going to get the Europeans’ noses out of joint. At least Zelensky has finally backed off:

You are right but you miss the most important point. What if that errant missile had landed on the headquarters of the deployed 101st or the NATO command and control center in the area? The atmosphere is so poisoned by lies the Russians refused to take Milley’s call that was supposedly made to diffuse the situation. A second compounding mistake of say mobilizing a NATO armored brigade or a missile battery might well have lit an unstoppable fuse to Armageddon. Our forces shouldn’t be within 5000 miles of this caldera.

‘Did Ukraine Try To Lie Us Into WWIII?’

Darth Putin @DarthPutinKGB

Ukraine's efforts to cause WW3 started as being to have secret biolabs, no one can find making strains of COVID delivered by bio engineered bats that only seek ethnic Russians. Now their only plan is to rocket a Polish potato farm.

And my trolls haven't missed a step.

“Not only were Poles told by the leaders of the kindred Ukrainian people that Russia had just attacked their country, which cruelly triggered very painful historical memories of its prior occupations of Poland, but it turns out that this was just fake news intended for triggering World War III. Even worse, their “ally” wanted Poland to initiate this nuclear apocalypse due the false expectation that its armed forces would act on their words without verifying them first and thus attack Russia right away.”

Andrzej Duda, President of Poland: “I have spoken with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is an extremely difficult situation for Ukraine, emotions are running high and there is an enormous amount of stress. Over the course of the last couple of days Ukraine has suffered a particularly large-scale Russian missile attack. Russia has cruelly and ruthlessly launched several hundred missiles on Ukraine,” Duda said.

“It doesn’t surprise anyone that emotions are running high, that the president’s emotions are running high. The president is deeply concerned about what is happening to his people, who have elected him to this position and to whom he feels responsible,” he added.

Details: The Polish president said that Zelenskyy’s claim that the missile that landed in Poland was not a Ukrainian missile is based on the fact that “everyone wants to see the evidence they want to see.”

“I said what I said based on what our investigators have told me, based on what representatives of Polish services have told me, and on the materials and documents that I have been given,” Duda added.

He stressed that the missile’s landing in Poland was an unfortunate and “absolutely not a deliberate event.”

“There is a war on the other side of the border, Russia has launched several hundred missiles on Ukraine, Ukraine was defending itself, and as a result of this, unfortunately, the thing that happened had happened. No one wanted to harm anyone in Poland, let alone to kill anyone. This is just a tragedy, our shared tragedy in a certain sense, the biggest tragedy of those who had lost their loved ones – their parents and their husbands,” the Polish president said.
