Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, said that Russia had no preconditions for starting negotiations with Ukraine.
Source: Kremlin-aligned news outlet RIA Novosti, quoting Rudenko
Quote: "There are no preconditions on our part [for starting the negotiations], except for the main one – that Ukraine should show good will."
Background:
- On 31 October, Russian President Vladimir Putin complained that Ukraine did not want to hold "peace talks" with the Russian Federation and said that he would wait for Ukraine to agree to such talks.
- On 4 October, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defence Council, which stated the impossibility of negotiating with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, as well as the need to strengthen Ukraine's defence capability.
- The Washington Post, quoting its sources among US officials, reported that the Administration of US President Joe Biden privately urged Ukrainian leaders to declare their readiness to negotiate with Russia.
- After that, Zelenskyy in his evening address on 7 November said that everyone knew Ukraine's conditions. "Once again: [they include] restoration of territorial integrity, respect for the UN Charter, compensation for all damage caused by the war, punishment of every war criminal and guarantees that this [the war against Ukraine – ed.] will not happen again. These are absolutely clear conditions," Zelenskyy said.

Zelensky may have a shady background but for whatever reason he rose to this occasion and he speaks very clearly where a lot of people might mumble in code and accomplish nothing.
As to this good will, I think the operating concept would be good riddance. After invading on a flimsy pretext and trashing a considerable portion of the country, now Russia expects good will? That is ridiculous.

Zelensky may have a shady background but for whatever reason he rose to this occasion and he speaks very clearly where a lot of people might mumble in code and accomplish nothing. I think that is exactly right. I do not know enough to judge his entire term as President, but his very public decision to stay in Kyiv and not flee as Moscow expected was critical. That video he shot on his phone, at night and in the streets of Kyiv, with a bunch of other stone-faced Ukrainian leaders "We are here", was tremendous.
Brave of those people to stand and fight against a much larger, more populous country.

An immediate ceasefire is terrible because it encourages bad faith negotiations solely for the purposes of delay. Once you have an agreement in principle on the biggest issues, that’s the time to consider a ceasefire. But it appears we are very far from that right now.

Sure, then as a sign of good will, Russia can withdraw its troops back to Russian soil.

Russia can begin negotiations for their payments to Ukraine in compensation for the damages of their illegal attack -AFTER- they have withdrawn all troops back to the Russia border pre 2014.

The Russians want some time to regroup and accumulate more ammo. They might also be a little low on Viagra for raping
and murdering Ukrainian women and children.

Update on Russian military operations in and around Ukraine for November 11, 2022.
- Russia completes withdrawal from Kherson city to east bank of the Dnieper River;
- Ukraine has lost its last major opportunity to corner and destroy/capture large numbers of Russian forces/equipment;
- Russia continues stated process of de-militarizing Ukraine;
- US aid to Ukraine becomes increasingly unrealistic - Hawk missiles designed in the 1960s and unused for 2 decades are being "refurbished" for a lack of better options;
- "Avenger" systems to be sent in small numbers (4) which are essentially Stinger missiles attached to a Hummer - after training for Ukrainian operators is completed;
- Dwindling amounts of basic ammunition continue to be sent to Ukraine, prolonging the conflict, but not in quantities to even allow Ukraine to hold what it has;
- As Russian forces withdrew from Kherson city, they advanced elsewhere in southern and northern Donbass.

Why talk now? Ukraine is winning big now! Push the Russians back to their real borders! Next stop, Crimea and a free Donbass! Only thing the Russians can offer is Mr. Putin’s head on a silver platter. Russia is FINISHED as a Great Power! The only bad thing—with out the fear of Russia what will stop an Imperial EU from seizing more lands? Add Belarus? Georgia? Armenia? Maybe Russia herself?

Russia is also the only thing stopping Erdogan from rebuilding The Ottoman Empire, with millions of European Muslims ready to fight for him.

The EU is not imperial, it’s rather a muddled bureaucracy.
And the French and Germans don’t want to expand east. Even the 2004 expansion was at the urgings and support of the UK

Thank you, the West would do well to get the whole picture and examine Russian Media’s thoughts- much more fair and balanced than the corrupted western media.
