Congress can’t abolish the Electoral College. That takes 38 States.

Fifteen states have 3, 4, or 5 electoral votes.

That “popular vote initiative” is not to abolish the electoral college. Instead it’s a scheme to manipulate the electoral college so whoever gets the majority of the national popular vote gets the majority of electoral college votes. It’s a nasty “end run” around the spirit of the electoral college concept. Anyone associated with it does NOT belong in the Republican leadership.
