New York and New England start RATIONING heating oil before winter as stockpiles slump by 70% and fears rise that families will be left in the cold

Heating oil, which is chemically similar to diesel, is primarily used in New York, Pennsylvania and New England, where most distribution is handled by small, family-owned businesses.
This year, New England's inventories of stockpiled heating oil are about 70 percent lower than their average level since 1993, government data show.
Supplies are lower this year due to the same factors impacting world oil markets, including the failure to rebuild production capacity following the pandemic, and disruptions from Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

My neighbor (another senior) got hers filled several weeks ago
We discussed the rationing and huge increase in costs if she waited too long ...
She gets hers filled in the fall and early spring ...
As it was the price was higher than normal ...

We just half-filled our tank, and bought pellets for our pellet stove. We are here in NE, I stocked up on blankets and duvets after we lost power during Sandy.
We are only here because of husbands work. As soon as we can, we will be leaving. Thie politicians up here act like we have all these choices, when most houses have oil heat. They really live in a fantasy land.

Genius. You just solved two problems. Stock piles of tires that need to be removed and home heating. There are wood burning stoves, why not tire burning stoves. Save a tree burn a tire. Burn two on Earth Day.
