Anyone remember this movie? I remember watching it as a grade schooler, and learning the duties of a young patriot.

Disney had a number of great period shows, educational and entertaining. Scarecrow, Johnny Shiloh, The Adventures of Gallagher.
I watched this in fifth or sixth grade.
I remember parts of the story. About him getting burned by molten metal (silver?) and that when he tried to re-link with his family (the Lytes) they threw him in jail for theft of a family cup.
You’ll never see them today. Walt Disney would take a flamethrower to the current Disney boardroom.
I remember this. Imagine Disney making a movie like this today.
No, but I read the original book as a kid. One of my favorites.
Dad ate SAM’s for a living over Southeast Asia. He made sure to teach me what was worth dying for. This was a part of the curriculum.
I love this movie!
Our Revolution lives on in you and your kids, if you allow it to. It was indeed a radical revolution. More slaves were freed in the 1780’s than in the previous 30 years before. Freedom is a drug. The high costs blood.
Had the record as a boy.
“Johnny Tremain his home Boston town...”
A man must stand up
or something like that ...
I saw that movie in elementary school- a public school. The principal was a Korean War veteran, I remember that. They showed that movie in class one day. I remember the scene of him burning his hand. I believe the character was then somewhat crippled with that hand? I remember it was a patriotic movie. The year I saw it had to be around 1970. I remember the name and bits of some scenes. I only saw it one time so many years ago. Yeah, Disney wouldn’t make a movie like that today. Now the enemy has most of our institutions.
WOW!
A bunch of white guys culturally appropriating the Native Americans.
Couldn’t make that movie today, but I enjoyed it very much when I was younger. It’s a pity what we’ve become as a nation.
As my Dad told me, “They can take everything. Your money, your property, anything you ever cared about. The ONLY thing you can take from yourself is your own honor.”
Me? I feel my honor dragged through sh!t every time I hear from the tyrant and his cronies running our government.
“Now the enemy has most of our institutions.”
And when do we take them back, by force of arms if necessary, as our ancestors did?
They are being forced to use real dinosaurs in new Jurassic Park movies.
Read the books never saw the movie
Another period book I read as a kid was “The Flicker’s Feather” about a young kid who joined Roger’s Rangers. It was a “juvenile” book, but it taught you the difference between a free man and a subject.
I always remember the hand going in to the molten metal. How he burned his hand.
