Nursing shortage forces emergency room closures across Canada

An acute nursing shortage is clogging or even closing hospital emergency rooms across Canada, pushing an already stressed national health system to the brink with potentially severe consequences for patient care.

Burnout from the Covid-19 pandemic, abuse from patients and salary discontent have seen nursing staff quitting their jobs in droves, and experts say the situation is only likely to worsen.

The impact on emergency care is such that Ottawa police recently had to take a shooting victim to hospital in their squad car, rather than wait for an ambulance, and an elderly woman who fell and broke her hip was forced to wait six hours for help from paramedics based 100 kilometers (62 miles) away.

Over the summer and into the fall, staffing shortages meant dozens of emergency rooms were forced to close -- sometimes for a night or a weekend, sometimes longer.

Canadians will never complain about their free health care, even when it’s not available.

Socialized medicine is not sustainable. It actively discourages innovative, talented, ethical people from entering the field. A hospital despite reputation and “rankings” is only as good as the physicians and nurses that attend the patient. People would be horrified if they really knew what goes on even in America’s best hospitals.

Paramedics are not nurses.

My daughter is an ICU/critical care nurse and she continually talks to my wife and I about the ongoing nursing shortage we have here in the US.

The pay socks. Raise the pay maybe they can find then nurses. At least in USA, they pay good money for travel nurses so you can fill a critical need.

I have family employed in health care who are leaving the field due to the forced vax mandates by CMS-Medicare/Medicaid and health care industrial complex.

Rarely discussed at this point; however, I suspect it is more widespread than just in my family.

My best friends wife is an RN in a nursing home

They’re begging her to work double shifts every week at premium OT pay

She’s no spring chicken anymore more and it’s taking its toll on her

2 years of FauciFlu has aged her 10

There are shortages around the world in just about every country regardless of health system type (government, private, or hybrid). Teaching is another area with acute shortages around the world.

One of the biggest issues is the Baby Boomer bust. In just about every western country they wave of baby boomer retirement is hitting its peak and there just isn’t enough people in the follow on generations to fill the gaps.

16 years after the fall of Quebec, 85 years before Nova Scotia and Quebec were part of the same sub-entity under the British crown, 89 years before Prince Edward Island joined them?

The year that Montreal sent supplies to aid Boston after the Royal Navy implemented a Sea Blockade on its inhabitants?

On the other hand we have a surplus of gender studies experts and climate scientists, they are lined up ten deep to harangue us from the microphones (my concern level is a permanent zero).

There will be elections soon, people will have their chance to vote the Liberals and some provincial governments out.

This tends to go in cycles and I believe that we may be moving away from the globalist agenda finally.
