If you plot the bar (assuming he left and walked a straight path to his apartment area), there’s around 50 minutes of extra time. I’ve always thought that he started off in the wrong direction (being drunk) and walked in circles for that 50-odd minutes.
I would add...just in general, from midnight to 5 AM, I wouldn’t be walking anywhere in the eastern side of DC. It’s just not safe.
Like Tulane co-eds get so stumbling drunk on Friday nights that homeowners regularly find them passed out in their shrubbery or on their front porches on Saturday morning.
