Also, Venmo, LLC (subsidiary of PayPal). I Didn’t know that.
If they threaten those who use their service to pay with, then hopefully someone will sue their asses off.
It isn’t a fine. It’s seizure of the money in the account for any reason that Paypal decides is justified. Next it will be banks that will seize money from your accounts if you are a dissenter. The next natural progression will be the irs, or SSA.
Remember Cyprus and bank accounts? Do not doubt that the statists regard that as a pivotal moment that they are salivating to repeat.
The current trend is toward eliminating cash. So all money would be in an electronic account somewhere, making politicians salivate as they contemplate what they can do with that money.
That is what I was trying to understand.
Even the electric company gets lost trying to find my rural Hawaii home. I’m not too worried.
Big ocean. Small island. Fewer people.
I will be closing mine ASAP...
Only use it for FreeRepublic...
You skipped Amazon Pay
Years ago PayPal wanted to link accounts to the users checking/savings account. I thought that was an idea that I wanted no part of, so I stopped using them immediately.
not really, i dont use paypal on ebay at all
“Involve the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials that, in PayPal’s sole discretion, (a) are harmful, obscene, harassing, or objectionable … (e) depict, promote, or incite hatred or discrimination of protected groups or of individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (e.g. race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.) … (g) are fraudulent, promote misinformation … or (i) are otherwise unfit for publication.”
In PayPal’s sole discretion of what constitutes violation of its purposely ambiguous terms, then even at its best behavior, FR can be judged to be "unfit for publication."
I never leave money parked there, but they have a transfer link to my bank account. Guess I better sever that, if I don't cancel outright.
I deleted my debit card from PayPal this morning... it wouldn’t let me close the account saying there was a ‘pending transaction’...there isn’t. When I reviewed how I was using PayPal I noticed there was nothing they actually did for me that I couldn’t do with my debit card alone. They were just a convenience that became inconvenient.
My wife and I have reorganized our finances at a new credit union with more services than our previous one. We won’t miss anything by quitting PayPal.
Paypal competitors, checks, cash, credit cards, crypto, etc...
This will backfire big time. Although it will take some time before it all shakes out. Give it a few years.
Lawyers will be licking their chops because PayPal is acting as if opinions are facts and facts are opinions.
