President Joe Biden warned Wednesday that the election of Italy’s first woman Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni represented a threat to democracy.
The president spoke during a Democrat Governors Association reception at a private residence in Washington, D.C., returning to one of his favorite talking points about the future of democracy threatened by populist-nationalist political figures.

When they say “democracy” they mean “democrats”.
Joe and his team ought to be allowed to hand-pick the leaders of foreign countries. Allowing the voters in foreign countries to actually have a say, would be a “threat to our democracy”. You never know what might happen — they might elect girls and stuff.

I remember when Bush was in office, there were many that said that since what America does affects what happens in the rest of the world, that foreigners should be allowed to vote in US elections.
The US ruling class is freaked by such things, because they are an example and threat to them. More so I think in Europe, because the parliamentary systems tend to override institutional controls better than whats left of democracy in the US. Thats why these institutions controlled by the US elite subculture survive electoral repudiation without harm.
