Perhaps, but, they think they are facing an existential threat. In Russia's case, they probably are.
The Europeans have been fighting over borders since Rome started to expand over 2000 years ago. This is a border war between two of the most corrupt countries in Europe. They speak the same language (almost), and have a shared history and culture. I have no interest in their dispute.
My country has somehow survived next to the world's economic and military superpower for over 200 years without a shooting war. When you have a common language and a shared history and culture, its not that hard.
The Ukrainians better figure out what Canada figured out a long time ago. Friendship and peace mean life, happiness, trade, and prosperity. War means death.

I saw the video of him giving this speech but it only showed everyone walking out on him.
Reading this full transcript...wow. It’s so spot on. He absolutely nails it all. Capitalism + communism is their goal. The European Union is nothing more than centralized planning by unelected (by the people) bureaucrats. Their arrogance leads them to believe they can plan the ‘perfect world’ but this doesn’t include freedom.
This is the greatest evil the world has seen. Quite prophetic...Biblical.
