>Why do they keep calling it a hurricane and not a tropical storm?
Because it’s currently a class 3 hurricane, 120mph sustained winds.

“Why do they keep calling it a hurricane and not a tropical storm?”
Because the winds are at 120 mph....that makes it a cat 3 hurricane.....or am I missing your point.
Seriously??? You live in like North Dakota or something??? Lots of destruction coming to Florida in the next few days and you’re questioning it? Get a grip buddy. Fly in to Florida and have the experience for yourself. Guarantee you won’t come back…
What a putz you are…..
Thanks for asking a good question, sorry for the childish replies.
I believe your point was, while it is currently a hurricane, by the time it hits Florida landfall, it is currently forecasted to have declined to a tropical storm level. Maybe before it hits landfall, hurricane damage to Florida will occur, but I assume that depends upon how fast it is moving, and where it is when it declines to a tropical storm level. Obviously, there is considerable uncertainty, and I understand the evacuation, it doesn’t mean that represents the outcome at the current base forecast.
It would be nice if someone would just explain rather than throwing stones.
