If someone pops up with an opinion that differs from the official narrative then a mob goes to researching every thing that person ever uttered or wrote down.

Even if they can only find one embarrassing comment that that person uttered when they were young and drunk, a comment that they have repeatedly disowned, that will be used to take them down.

I'm not supporting Waters' comment, but we used to be able to say that we would fight to the death to allow him to say it.

Now we are just "informed consumers" and will boycott his livelihood until he stops saying the things the WEF/WTO/WHO/UN/EU doesn't want him to say.

What you and others describe in this thread is an Orwellian world come to fruition. Somewhere along the way (and it was fairly recently), everybody appears to have become intolerant and even hateful of anybody who does not agree with them 100% on everything.

As a result, most people find it easier to just robotically spout the politically correct jargon of the day, even though deep down they do not believe it, because they just don't want to be hassled.

"Cancel culture" is the slippery slope that leads to the kind of society that George Orwell tried to warn us about.
