But since we have a two tiered justice system, perp was a Democrat and victim was a Republican, the bail was only $50,000 total.

Depends. He can do either. If he puts up the entire fifty thousand, he gets it back when he goes to court. If he puts up the five thousand and gets a Bail Bondsman to get him out, he loses the five thousand. That goes to the bail bondsman But I vert seriously doubt he goes to Court again. My feeling is that the State will quietly drop the case. There is more to this case than meets the eye. It could be a lover's quarrel. Most 41 year old men are home with their families at 2:30 in the morning. Not quarreling with a young kid.

I believe that you have to put up 10% to the bail bondsman who then keeps it when the case is resolved. Never having had to put up bail I'm not sure if that's accurate or not

On another matter if some scum killed my kid I would not rest until he died painfully - irrespective of the consequences to myself.
