All sorts of big earthquakes in the Pacific region the last day or so. Solomon Islands, Mexico, Taiwan, and Indonesia.
Makes me wonder if the Oregon-Washington earthquake might happen soon!

Yeah I’m just surprised that it has happened three times on this date over the years.

the odds of something happening on a certain day
1/365 is one chance per each day of a year
all other numbers are whether something may happen for other circumstances

It is amazing how the same magnitude quake in Mexico can cause thousands of deaths, while in Japan it may cause a dozen or so deaths.

Mexico City, which was basically destroyed in the 1985 quake (already an 8.0), is a filled-in lake, so the shaking and liquefaction in an equivalent quake is significantly increased.

We had one in the interior yesterday. 4.5, not huge, but biggest in a while

Over a dozen quakes from 4.2 to 5.5 rattling Taiwan’s east coast in the past 48 hours or so.
