All have fallen for the believe that the Ukrainian rapid advance has caused a Russian defeat. That however is not the case.
The main Russian forces had already left the area. What was left were sentry guards of the Luhansk People’s Republic and a few companies of the Russian National Guard which is more or less a police force. That is why the ‘western’ official talking with Reuters is quite cautious with his assessment:
“There’s an ongoing debate about the nature of the Russian drawdown, however it’s likely that in strict military terms, this was a withdrawal, ordered and sanctioned by the general staff, rather than an outright collapse.” … “Obviously, it looks really dramatic. It’s a vast area of land. But we have to factor in the Russians have made some good decisions in terms of shortening their lines and making them more defensible, and sacrificing territory in order to do so,” the official said, adding he did not expect Russia to immediately seek to regain lost territory.

In before the Homoglobalists UI arrive!
You bet. All of the armor — left untouched for the most part — was a parting gift, I suppose.
Russia is being defeated in Ukraine. That’s all I see here.
Pure gaslighting.
LOL, sure its just a Russian 'Orderly Regroup' like the Russian attack on Kyiv was a 'Tactical Russian Feint'.
Just be quiet and send more Billions to Ukraine.
It is a very good cause. Big guy will get 10%.
So what if USA is in debt upto their eyeballs, USA can just print more dollars. Another 1/2 point inflation going up no one will notice.
I don’t know what to think. I am not pro-Ukraine or anti-Putin. To me, it is two corrupt governments fighting one another. I don’t care who wins so long as it’s over. I was really hoping the beginning of the end had arrived.
Oh, well.
Ukraine and its international image desperately needed a boost at this time, and this counterattack was a massive boost, from many of us wondering if Ukraine had the ability to attack, to marveling at how incredibly successful it was.
The attack has badly shaken Russia while invigorating Ukraine, who knows how it will look in the books in a couple of years, but for this moment, it was just what was needed, in spades.
Early in life I have noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper, but in Spain, for the first time, I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as the heroes of imaginary victories; and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that had never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various ‘party lines’.

LMAO!! Love that spin.
Even the Russian media have acknowledged it was a defeat. Putin’s regime claimed they were “regrouping.” If what was there was just a gaggle of scrubs like the article claims, the Russians would be loudly trying to make that point. It’s understandable the mindset of denial coming from the Putinist crowd. Defeat is a tough pill to swallow.
I’m the same. Just needs to end. Both countries and the world losing until it ends.
The bad news is, it means a long war.
Lol! Sort of like Biden when it came to Afghanistan, “We didn’t suffer a defeat...we just decided to leave in a hurry.” Yes, perhaps technically true. But you usually don’t decide to just pack up and leave if the situation is all roses.
