I lived there 16 years and have been back to visit multiple times since. There are only 3 prefectures that I haven't been in. Two close family members liked it so well that they got permanent residency.
I've never seen a “no Japanese allowed” sign in northern Japan or elsewhere. Of course, my time on U.S. bases has been limited to a handful of visits, so I don't deny the possibility.
As for the “no foreigners allowed in our restaurant” signs, you might see those in a handful of places such as Kabuki-Cho (the nightclub district in Tokyo) or areas near U.S. military bases where a certain type of drunken sailor/soldier/airman thinks the price of a drink entitles him to take indecent liberties with the help.
But, for the most part, such signs are rare. The chikan, unfortunately, is not. It is partly because Japanese women are overly feminine and not used to dealing with such cads. I knew an American of Japanese descent who handled one of the jerks as he needed to be handled-- by grabbing the hand, making a good fingernail mark in it, calling him out in a loud voice and getting immediate action from the railroad staff who met him at the platform on the next stop and escorted him off.
Because fake accusations are not common there as they are in the USA, they are taken seriously and the perp didn't try top deny it.

Might be a problem with the passenger pushers that load crammed trains, but Japan is good with technical solutions.
Yes, he lives in a certain prefecture which is beautiful, and teaches at a local gakuen’ (high school?) as the English teacher (No, not those fake Japanese who teach English but in broken Engrish’), and his other jobs is for the state department and the US bases. He doesn’t like Tokyo and only goes there if needed to.
Happens in US buses too, at least it used to when I commuted on them in the 80s. Many times. 20? 30?

Japanese culture is very safe if you don’t count groping. And its very clean as well. People recycle everything so that there are about 5 to 9 versions of recycling or garbage. Its over the top. And there are no public trash cans. There aren’t even paper towels in the public washrooms. Everyone brings their own wash clothe with them.
(not that I would know anything about that)

My Dad was in the First Cavalry Division, and was part of the occupation force after the war.
He never could get past the fact that they were deadly enemies back then.
I never lived through what he did and can’t imagine the things he saw.

We are starting to see why previous generations separated males from females in public accommodations, classrooms, etc.
You mean by giving women equal pay and equal opportunity. We don't argue with that now, but that idea caused a lout of resentment 50 years ago.
I know feminism introduced a lot of toxicity into the mix too, but part of the problem with that is men did nothing to counter it. They just went along with it, as long as they could use it against other men to score points with whomever they wanted to stick it into. That includes male judges and police officers. I've seen enough of this to last a life time.

From what I recall, men either laughed at it, or stood up for the women when they thought they could score points on it. If men were so up for defending women for the sake of defending women, there would be no such thing as human trafficking.
I know that's a horrible thing to say, but trafficked women are waiting for their knights in shining armor to rescue them, but for the most part the knights are there to purchase their services instead.
Now that sort of thing is "toxic masculinity". Also, you might be less inclined to white knight for a tattooed trash mouth.
There's that too.
The Japanese are one of the best cultures on earth. They are incredibly clean. They crave simplicity. They follow orders and laws. They are also very small and thin. Sumo are very uncommon.
They don’t have large numbers of things. They are not hoarders. They have small homes, mostly apartments.
Their culture has a style that values simplicity. They do have special Japanese things like food, Anime and a unique music scene. They are very technical. And most Japanese people live totally outside of nature. From work to home they may not even see a tree or grass. And rarely see the sky. Their toilets sum up the Japanese. Even in public toilets they are electric with ten or more buttons that provide toilet services from music, to a warm seat, to a bidet. They are crazy.
WW2 is a great shame for Japan. But virtually all the people who lived then are dead. Japanese live longer than any other country in the world. But WW2 ended 75 years ago. And Japan now is nothing like Japan then.
America opened up Japan then. They did not want outsiders. They did not want to expand. They just did not want to be subject to American’s show of force. So when America forced themselves on Japan. Japan realized they needed to compete. And they built one of the best military’s in the world. They went from no electricity to a world power in 40 years. But their military was not as good as the Americans. They had no experience fighting. And still they gave us a run for our money. When war did not work out they competed with industry and nearly took over the world. But their economy stalled when the Japanese had everything they could ask for. They are a happy people. And would love to live in the world within their own culture. They find foreigners to be crude, lawless, and big.
There were times I would tell my Dad “the war’s over, they’re our allies now”, but he couldn’t accept that.
All it takes is to lose someone you knew and liked in that war and you don’t forgive easily.
That is true now but not 50 years ago.
The very core of the problem with feminism is that they want the same pay DESPITE these glaring differences. This throws all market forces out the window.
That much is true, but what are men doing to defend themselves? Or their sons?
As far as I can tell, feminism's only other purpose besides destroying the economy and relationship between men and women is to encourage the worst and most irresponsible behavior in women, and the tattooed single mother results are all around us now.
Not one of those women became single mothers without help from a man. Whether it's shooting their sperm all over the landscape or filling up the cups in sperm banks so the women who hate men can have babies without them, no one is forcing men to contribute to the problem.
Sorry you live in such a terrible place. Where I live, even now, there are always men who will help out a lady, and I'm not even in a red state.
Where is that, because just about all of the examples I've read about happened in blue cities.
Some arrangement should be reached where two of the train cars are reserved for gropers and women who enjoy being groped. With the women allowed to
