Massachusetts GOP governor won’t endorse Trump-backed nominee to replace him (golly gee, what a shock!)

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) does not plan to endorse the state’s GOP gubernatorial nominee, who is backed by former President Trump, according to a spokesperson.

“The Governor and Lt. Governor [Karyn Polito (R)] said months ago they don’t plan to get involved in the gubernatorial election so they can focus solely on finishing strong,” Baker spokesman Jim Conroy confirmed to The Hill. “That’s still the case.”

Former state Rep. Geoff Diehl, who had the endorsement of former President Trump, was projected on Tuesday night to win the Republican primary in the Massachusetts governor’s race, beating out moderate businessman Chris Doughty.

Diehl will face Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey (D) in November’s general election race. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates the general election race as “solid Democratic.”

Just like Larry Hogan of Maryland, a complete and total scumbag!

Can't wait for this miserable droning puke to be out of office come January!

He's SO pissed that Trump forced him not to seek a third term.

We here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, those of us who are not leftist lunatics, are deeply disappointed.

These Rino’s get real nervous when the possibility exists that the person who replaces them might expose them for any crimes they committed while in office.

The RINOs are all about “big tent” and “Republicans supporting each other”—except when they are not!

Cook Political Report rates the general election race as “solid Democratic.”

They voted for Kennedy after he killed a young girl, they will vote for any Dem on the ticket.

Diehl doesn’t stand a chance of winning.

Maybe not, but every rebuilding has to start somewhere. Having real Republicans nominated instead of guys like Baker is an important step, so that those Republicans in places like Massachusetts aren't completely demoralized.

Howard Dean was a bad presidential candidate, but a competent Dem Party boss. His approach was to run hard in all 50 states, even in places where there was no chance. It helped energize the Dems.

One thing I always check is whether or not the candidate has phones and has staff manning them to hear from potential voters. After all, if they cannot run a phone bank, why would we think they could run a state or country?

President Trump understood this and had a phone bank running all thru his campaign.

I see it as the dividing line between those that are serious and those that are not

Wait, you mean the only Republican governor who has a vaccine mandate for state employees is it going to endorse the Trump supporters candidate. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.

Compared to most MA voters Diehl is considered far right. He orig was from Bethlehem PA and was a Dem till 2008. In that year’s primaries he voted for a fellow Pennsylvanian.

Guy from Scranton. No joke! But he did push the gas tax repeal later.
Howie Carr will tell you he helped Trump get elected but he supported Doughty this year saying Diehl can’t beat Maura Healey.

Howie’s registered to vote in FL—lives there half the year.
Doughty $-—2 million of his own money.
Diehl had $17k in his campaign kitty but may get more now that he’s the nominee.
