Obama considered replacing his vice president with Hillary Clinton, leaving Biden "distraught," according to The Long Alliance by Gabriel Debenedetti.

Obama realized that Hillary would stab him in the back at the first opportunity, whereas Biden was too stupid to do so.

Exactly. Biden was (is) a loose cannon on deck. Hillary is duplicitous, obsessive over her “stolen glory”, and had a political machine and fund raising deeper and stronger than Obama’s.
