Russia is being forced to deplete "certain units" from key parts of Ukraine in order to have enough troops respond to Ukraine's counteroffensive in Kherson, United States National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said on Monday.
Ukraine launched the counteroffensive on Monday as it hopes to take back control of Kherson, the first major city Moscow won control of at the start of the invasion, which was launched on February 24 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the more than six months since the war started, Russia has faced a stronger-than-expected response from its Eastern European neighbor, as well as weaknesses in its own military that have given Ukrainians optimism that they can successfully gain more ground after weeks of the two countries being locked in a stalemate.
Kirby said during a Monday press conference that Ukraine's counteroffensive has already had an effect on Russia's military, which has had trouble recruiting troops in recent months.

Sounds like everybody is running out of troops. Somebody should be brokering some kind of peace conference, but it would appear that with the US backing Ukraine that there is nobody in a position to do it.
Or maybe the Russians should just leave Ukraine and go home?

Well, you’d like to be able to keep both sides from throwing away another 60,000 thousand casualties over moving the front a couple of kilometers in either direction. Neither side has the armor remaining to mount a sustained offensive. So, if the Russians decide to stay there’s very little that Ukraine can do about it other than accept unfavorable loss ratios.

Congratulations, you have deciphered the effect of war and come up with the right formula twice. If the US and other countries had stayed out of it to begin with it would have been over long ago and a peaceful determination would have been accomplished. But by the US and other countries supplying weapons and tech to the Ukraine the war has been extended thus more and more people have been killed or injured military and civilian alike for what will be the same outcome and there will be less considerations for the loser.
And that doesn’t cover the cost of weapons that were sent that the Ukraine will never pay for while we have people starving in our country and the shortage of fuel oil coming shortly will make others die or suffer from the cold while the people pay exuberant prices so the administration can say they are doing something else for the world by supporting the ecology liars that gave money to their campaign.
