Maybe they were feeling cocky.
They just got taxpayers to cough up for their new stadium.
Is it alleged to be “rape” because she was a willing minor, or because she was unwilling?
A 17 year old was plied with alcohol and left bloody by three MEN who raped her.

That’s HER story. The police investigated and did not press charges, which means they determined that the allegations were dubious. And keep in mind that the “police” do not make the final determination as to whether to prosecute; instead, that is done by veteran sex offense prosecutors. With do respect, I have handled more than 200 sex offense cases as a prosecutor/defense attorney. Prosecutors file charges if they have even the slightest confidence that the allegations are true.
Unfortunately, this is a recurring story of privileged athletes who know no boundaries.
IIRC, the age of consent in CA is 18.
Why isn’t this a criminal case?
In that sense you are correct and I withdraw the point. However with the driver’s license and drunk driving isn’t that presumed consent involved in obtaining a license? In my state it is.

Rape is a crime. Crimes need to be reported to police. Why is there no police report?
Sorry, “implied consent”. Wish FR had an edit function.

17 is not a minor, prior to woke the age of consent in most places was 16. Since woke it’s been raised to 18 which is ridiculous.
The guy I would call "The Punt God" was Joran Berry who played at my Alma Matre, EKU, and then in the NFL. I don't know if he's on a team this year or not.
He's Australian and he could punt those super long punts as well. But he was the best I've ever seen at pinning an opponent inside the 10-yard line. When a drive stalled at your own 45, he would punt the ball with backspin and land it around the 5-yard-line, where the opponent would normally cover it, but giving them a long way to go. If your drive stalls on your own 45, your punter is not a hero if he punts it 20 yards past the endzone.
Yeah, I only break out my legal background when people tell me I don’t know what the law is! I do this for a living every dang day. And let me tell you, people would be shocked at how many phony rape allegations are made against men. These women never get prosecuted for false allegations. The allegations just get swept under the rug. In all fairness, there are many rapes that go unreported, too. This particular allegation sounds suspicious IMHO.
Because the girl's family wants to get paid and nobody is going to get paid if the Golden Goose goes to prison.
It’s “implied consent” in that when you drive on a state road you open yourself up to having to take a breath test if the police suspect you of drunk driving. Every state is different. In my state, you can legally refuse the breath test (while not a crime, you receive an extra period of suspension on your driver’s license). In other states, it is a crime to refuse the test. In my state, the police read a form out to you advising you of your right to take a test or refuse the test. You then give “informed” consent to take the test or you make an “informed” decision to refuse the test. I joke about how stupid this form is b/c it assumes that the person signing it is drunk.
BTW, I understand the confusion on the law. Every state is different. And college campuses have implemented different rules, etc.
That’s too bad, if true. This guy had an 80 yard punt a couple of weeks ago.
Trade him to Cleveland
There you go again. Making assumptions. Don't assume - you make an ASS of U and ME.
If you read my initial comment, I started with "IF TRUE" You seem to not want to know all the facts before forming an opinion.
If true, that was horible and he need proper punishment. I'm thinking about the guys who assaulted Bonasera's daughter.
“First thing I notice is that this is a CIVIL case and not a criminal one. “If true”, this should certainly be handled in a criminal court, not a civil one. Not one seeking a large check.”
Speaking of hopes for a large check, George Foreman is being sued for sexually abusing two young women in the 1970s: https://nypost.com/2022/08/26/george-foreman-accused-of-sexual-abuse-by-two-women-lawsuits/
While the legal process plays out, and the facts are not really known by the debaters here, there seem to be far too many who reflexively tolerate gang rape on this thread to be a family friendly, much less Christian friendly place.
