Oh, look, another Biden policy that will hurt the middle and lower classes.
Yay Democrats.
For years, they’ve claimed to be the party of the poor, those in need, and yet every policy they’re shoving through does nothing to help the poor and everything to help their wealthy pals in green energy, and oddly enough, Ukraine.
Making a plumber pay for the debt of a lawyer? That’s Biden for ya’.
Here are some facts: Only 37% of Americans have a 4-yr college degree, only 13% have graduate degrees, and a full 56% of student loan debt is held by people who went to grad school.

So much for Republicans being the party of the evil rich. Democrats will have officially taken that title if and when Biden does this.
And as @willchamberlain has said for years, let's cancel student debt by seizing the non-taxable endowments of colleges and making them pay for it instead of taxpayers. Problem solved.

Oh, and let’s get the government out of student loans altogether. Everything got so much more expensive the moment they got involved.
Funny how that works out.
Simply cancelling debt puts a band aid on the actual problem, which is colleges raising their tuitions every year while the government foots the bill, convincing young kids that taking out thousands of dollars in debt is a good idea. Solve the problem by going after the system.

Of course they are. So they make more poor people and increase the needs of the needy. The Party must grow.
My daughter and husband paid off $60,000 in student debt in 3 years by eating rice and beans. Were they suckers for living up to their commitments?
My wife and I scrimped and saved throughout the 18 years that our two children grew up so we would have college savings for them.
Both graduated with a bachelor’s degree debt-free.
Do we get reimbursed for being fiscally responsible?

At 62, I’m paying off my student loans. I took them, I’m responsible for them. I told my son I will help pay off his loans also. He was driving door dash to avoid the deferral process and now he is with a company who will pay off his law school debt once he passes the Bar.
No offense, but why are you responsible for your son’s debt? Only one of my kids chose 4 year college. We loaned him the money. He paid it back within a year. About $30,000. He now makes more than I do after an entire career because, like your son, he chose a lucrative career path.
I don’t understand the myth that parents are responsible for their adult kids college expenses.

I was happy to help the kids out to a point but they need skin in the game it makes a difference.
Both my son and daughter had to take out student loans. Both of em worked hard to pay em off as soon as they got out of school. He owns his own business and she’s a school nurse. Yeah. she had to take the shot to stay employed.
Talked to my son a couple of days ago. He said, “I kinda feel like an idiot for paying it off, but it was the right thing to do because I want NOTHING ever hanging over me, especially from this govt.”
My daughter? Well, all she had to say, “Nothing surprises me anymore with these morons in DC.”

Fair question. I’m not responsible. Just helping him out until he is on his feet. He just landed a job with a company that will pay off his loans. I want to take the stress off of him so he can focus on other things like getting an apartment and starting his life after law school.
I bought a three bedroom house for my two children to live in while attending college. We rented the third bedroom to cover utilities and groceries. When they graduated, I sold the house for an incredible profit, paying me back their college tuition. Once again, I’d like to thank God for how that worked out.

But like so many times before the Republicans will blow it.
One thing I forgot to mention about my daughter and husband. They are millionaires today. Maybe meeting commitments is not such a bad idea.
Though I had no burning desire to go to college after high school, my parents could not have afforded it anyway. Same situation for me when I became the parent. My son took advantage of what the Marine Corps would pay for & got an MBA through correspondence. Has it helped him? Not sure, but he has a fairly good job. Nowadays it seems that anything other than maybe a bachelors degree is mostly out of reach, but many very good jobs in industry are possible. A wrong choice in a college degree & you could end up with nothing, but a lot of debt. Why should the average taxpayer be asked(told) to pay for that for someone else? What was Biden’s major in college, since his life & career seems to have been nothing but one huge mistake?
