A whole lot of Europeans are going to freeze and starve this winter if something doesn't start to change in a kind of a hurry...

In exchange for kicking the Blinken admin out of Europe, Nord I and II will open for business.
Everyone would benefit.

They are neither going to freeze and certainly won’t starve. Most of Europe is much warmer than the northern US. The big issue is large industrial consumers of gas who are already getting pinched by high prices.

I've said right along.....Before this is over....Nord I and II will be flowing as intended.
Just tell the USA to go to hell and take their climate change with them.

There never was a “European plan to punish Russia”.

Russia is headed for Economic OblivionVideo goes through a Yale Management School report on Russia.
- Russia isn't reporting many key indicators. They are hiding economic indicators that are bad.
- Putin has sacked some of the leaders of the statistics reporting organization and put his own people in place.
- Russia can't move it's gas because they don't have the infrastructure to liquify it. So they can't move it to China or India.
- Russia is more dependent on Europe than Europe is dependent on Russia.
- Possible 40% decrease in Russia's GNP.

Well, it didn’t take long for US imperialism to get the blame in the comments.

“European plan to punish Russia”
Correct.
They all signed on to the US plan to punish Russia.

I don’t recall my radiator doing all that much good in my apartment in Traben-Trarbach. I lived there 4 years during my tour in Germany. Layers of blankets were the recipe to stay warm, except those rare occasions my girlfriend came over.

It makes too much sense not to happen.
Despite the fake news, Russia is not losing. And they are not bombing the living crap out of everything “shock and awe” style, although they are capable. Europeans will see this.
Getting help from the World Police is practically a death sentence.

These EU countries receive nothing "spectacular" from the alliance with the USA...BUT we do have our Military all over the place. These countries no longer have the weakness they possessed during WWII...and when NATO was formed.
Let's bring our boys home. Let them build up their own armies.
To: ganeemead
“freeze and starve” means to die.
It is different from saying get chilly and have to pay incrementally more for their favorite snacks.
Europeans are not going to “freeze and starve”.
Except perhaps for those Europeans in areas where Russian artillery has destroyed the heating, electrical, water and food distribution systems. In those areas there is a real risk that some more will die this Winter.

French and German energy prices are spiking to $500-$800 (because Euro is at parity with the $ lol) per MwH.

There was no intention of punishing Russia; the nature of the “sanctions” and the continued patronage with respect to energy and to Russia’s closest allies bears that out.

I have no European experience, but it all depends on what you are used to. Friends in Wellington, NZ complain when it is’a 40F and they are used to those damp, cold winds off the ocean. In the Caribbean, when it hits 76F with rain & clouds, the locals wear jackets & sweaters.
If the Euros weren’t worried, there wouldn’t be shortages of firewood and wood stoves.
The Euro is a tad below parity with the US FRN.
It goes beyond heat. Viz: Macron telling the French that they need to accept an end to abundance.
These countries are going to finance NATO? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

The big issue _right now_.
Germany reports 76% of supply on hand needed for winter, but it impacts everyone eventually and it is going to be uncomfortable, at the least.
I watch an Austrian vlogger “Survival Lily.” There are active preppers in the EU taking this situation seriously.

FWIW, when I was stationed at Fort Bliss, one made sure they took their field jackets to training exercises in the desert during the summer.
The temperature would drop from 100 degrees down to 65 by 10 PM...it got chilly.
