Pardon me being blunt but if you bought a battery-only EV on the basis of its low operating cost without considering that eventually the government would tax it to make up for dwindling gasoline tax revenues, ... or just because they could, ... you’re an idiot.
Low operating cost? Until battery swap time.
I have been warning EV users of this for years. That is the government’s end game, to be able to track you EVERYWHERE you go...and charge you for it!
It will be interesting see to how the feds will extract their pound of flesh from EV owners while giving tax rebates to the same EV owners...
βThe right hand giveth and the left hand taketh it away.β
The biggest problem will be convincing consumers that the multi thousand dollar cost to replace the battery back periodically is acceptable. The geniuses pushing this should really look at the home solar panel disposal problems in CA and elsewhere and think real hard about dealing with tens of millions of vehicle battery packs on an annual basis.
Ditto. What it really comes down to, is how do you like your pollution? Deal with it now or deal with it later.
How about EV charging only at “green energy” charging stations either at home or public sites? As things are going right now, if we continue with having to charge these EVs as we do now, there is going to be problems with electrical shortages & this has already been publicized.
