Trump outlines preferred policies if GOP retakes Congress in CPAC speech

Former President Trump outlined steps for Republicans to take if they win back control of Congress in November during his speech Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Trump said the midterms need to be a “national referendum” on President Biden and Democratic control of Congress, and Republicans must ensure Democrats are dealt a “crippling” defeat. His speech at the convention in Dallas, Texas, concluded its third day.

Trump pointed to candidates he backed in primaries like Tudor Dixon, the Republican nominee for governor of Michigan, and Kari Lake, who won the GOP nomination for governor of Arizona.

He said GOP candidates should campaign on holding the Biden administration accountable and working to “shut down” the southern border, reduce crime and beat inflation. He said restoring “public safety” is the first job for the next Congress, and he knows the Republicans who are running are “not going to play games.”

Trump reiterated his call for instituting a death penalty for drug dealers. He said China does not have any drug issues because it executes drug dealers following swift trials.

He said the process “sounds horrible,” but would be effective in bringing down drug dealing.

Wow. Death penalty for drug dealers? That's a new one to me.

What do we think of this policy, Freepers?

Death merchants live by the rock, they can die by the rock.

But I’d be wary of the definition of “drug”.

I am not necessarily in favor of death to drug dealers. However President Trump has many, many issues that I am in favor of.

A nation that executes 1 murderer for every 200 homicides is gonna start executing drug dealers? Color me skeptical. Think about the disparate impact implications. How’s it gonna look when > half the drug dealer executions are of George Floyd’s co-ethnics.

It is a idea.

No problem as a plank in the platform.

Already known that SCOTUS would shoot down.

Counter is that the Dem’s primary plank is killing babies.

Poll: Are for for killing babies or executing drug dealers? Please pick one.

Lash the users, hang the dealers.

Prison is a waste.

“What do we think of this policy, Freepers?”

Reports say U.S. deaths from fentanyl reached 41,587 in 2021, up from 37,208 in 2020.

In that context we discuss the possible execution of a handful of big time dealers.

I don't like the death penalty. But I recognize that sometime the death penalty is appropriate.

Trump estimated that every drug dealer kills about 500 people.

I guess he’s not concerned about the Libertarian vote.

Libertarians are socially Liberal and fiscally Conservative.
But the dirty secret is that they don't really care about fiscal stuff and will pull the lever for Liberals every time.

With Senate candidates in AZ, CO, GA, OH, and PA who have never won an office in a general election, it’s going to be an uphill battle.

Dr. Oz never won an office in a general election.

Neither had DJT prior to 2016.

It’d be nice if he demanded the elimination of the deficit and pay down of the debt.

Everything else is dross and temporary if that is not done.

Sometimes you ask for more than you really want so you can give something up and appear to be compromising.

First Rule of Trump: Always take him seriously, but not always literally.
