In 2015, Donald Trump burst on the scene with a megaphone, a populist message, an army of grassroots supporters — and not much else.
If he runs for the Republican nomination again, as seems likely, it will be different.
Early in his first presidential campaign, he had to be grateful for every small crumb of support from Republican officialdom — an endorsement from then-U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, or former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Now, Trump is a former president of United States who looms incredibly large over his party. He and his loyalists have forged a new establishment — a MAGA establishment — that will have his back when no such pro-Trump structures existed the first time around.
He effectively owns the Republican National Committee, which fundraises relentlessly off his name and image and pays his legal bills.

But the more large segments of the media try to stop Trump the more fresh (not stale) he appears.
Oh, he might be the “MAGA establishment” front-runner, but no one would mistake him for the “Establishment front runner” (notice that Lowry does not use the capital “e”. which is correct.) If you get impeached twice, one after you are removed from office, you are not Establishment.
This is pathetic, even for Rich Lowry.
MAGA is what the establishment fears most and tried to squash with The Trump/Russia collusion delusion, two impeachments and the Big Steal.
Yet another Never-Trumper is hoping to split the vote promoting Desantis. They are so utterly transparent and pathetically predictable.
President Trump will be the 2024 Republican candidate no matter how badly they wish it away. And, there’s not a democrat that can stop him from winning that race.
“The Steal” part 2 will be challenging as the awareness level watching for it is off the charts.

Calling Trump an “establishment” candidate and pushing DeSantis as the alternative reeks of desperation. We all know Lowry, his buddies at NR, and the rest of the Deep State Repukes hate DeSantis as much as they hate Trump. They will support one of their own in Judas Pence or Nikwit Haley in the 2024 primaries. This is another futile attempt by the GOP establishment to drive a wedge between the Republican rank and file and Trump.
