A very good point, and I suspect it will be more of a factor in sales than we imagine. Notice today, all of the car commercials still use Vroom Vroom sounds. How will they sell a quiet car??
Formula E has been around a while and no longer is terrible. (At first the range was so bad drivers switched CARS mid-race.)
I hope the rules for electric vehicle racing will favor innovation in charging rates, range, etc. Nothing like competition to bring about improvements in a particular field.
