Most citizens have lost respect for the FBI and Justice Department, but the fear of them is increasing. That is the route that every totalitarian government takes until it collapses on itself. Perhaps that is enough for the soldiers of the Justice and FBI - when there is not enough respect, then they will replace it with fear.

Johnson is in a tight re-election battle. Law enforcement in general is not very popular. Is it for show or will it really get done?

I remember two incidents from some years ago where from my impression the Feds tread lightly--the Klamath Falls farmer incident and the dustup on the blocking/unblocking of the road up near Elko, Nevada.

Memories of Ruby Ridge and Waco were still pretty hot at the time of Elko and Klamath, and my understanding of reports through the grapevine was the Feds were notified that the protesters had friendly snipers ready to respond to any undue showing of force by the Feds.

How that plays out now is anyone's guess, given the Finicum/Uranium One fiasco, but I wonder if the mindset among certain quarters is if a party gets started, the theme is "take no prisoners".
