The current COVID surge has put Sacramento County in a precarious position. The highly transmissible and evasive BA.5 subvariant is getting little resistance from a population that has largely abandoned basic precautions like mask-wearing that limited its spread. While deaths and hospitalizations are lower thanks to the availability of vaccines and treatments, we invite new risks by ignoring what we have learned after two-plus years and 1 million deaths.

The example of Long Beach not agreeing to the mask mandate is remarkable, as the city was completely taken over years ago by rabid leftists. Not a conservative anywhere to be found.
People are just fed up with this nonsense. The virus will be here forever. It’s just a cold at this point for almost everyone. Runny nose, sore throat, slight fever perhaps. Everyone will get it, mask or no mask. We can’t destroy our economy to stop people from catching colds. We just can’t!

They are quiet on out of control public employee union (which will eventually bankrupt California).
They are quiet about allowing people to steal up to $1,000 and if caught get ticket and released.
They are quiet about the hundreds of shanty towns the “homeless” build where ever they want.
They are quiet about many things, but they take a stand on mandatory mask requirement knowing full well mask are useless.
Journalist, want to know why you are not trusted and many cases despised, well it is because you don’t report anything any more you just repeat the party talking points.

But they will comply. Most people would rather acquiesce to authority, than draw attention by resisting. When Newsom reinstated the mask mandate last December most people ignored him initially, but within about two weeks I was the only person in whatever store I went to, not wearing a mask. People are tired of this, but they will wear the mask.
Anyone and any entity (most always a group of unelected bureaucrats or self-proclaimed “experts) who promotes masking as a way to control transmission of a respiratory virus has truly lost all credibility to dispense medical advice ... to be taken seriously. To maintain one’s good health, these people must be shunned and their dangerous “advice” must be ignored.
I suspect you’re right. They’ll all complain but they’ll comply.
The variants are becoming closer to a normal cold as typically occurs.

So what if a few million more Americans die do to this virus. That’s what the democrats want isn’t it? Our being replaced by illegals is in full swing. To make room, we need fewer Americans. The next step is to make farming more fair. Kill off the American farms and give the land to the illegals who know nothing about farming. It’s the only logical step.
