“The West is not fighting. We’re simply providing arms.”

We are doing a lot more than that: we are feeding intelligence to the Ukrainians, and they are using it to kill Russians. This has been widely reported. But don’t worry, we are the USA and are immune from blowback.

“Did I miss a declaration of war somewhere along the line?”

You have to wait for Russia to sink an ocean liner for that.

We gave weapons to Britain when fascists attacked so why not Ukraine?

“Not to mention more depletion of our inventory.”
That part of your argument is week.
1) The US inventory is quite large and most of the weapons given are older models.
2) If the weapons are used by Ukraine against Russia then they mostly won’t be needed by NATO forces against Russia.

Biden is prolonging the inevitable defeat of Ukraine and risking a world wide nuclear war in the process.

Don’t you mean when the German National Socialist Workers Party that is.. the Nazis attacked UK during the Blitz, as opposed to the active submarine attacks on British and American supply convoys. Right.

Mussolini was a Fascist, and he only tolerated Hitler once he came to rescue him in the mountains. Still and all, Mussolini was killed with his girlfriend Petacci-— by Italian COMMUNISTS. That is ultra Left socialists to the Left of the Leftist Nazis. The Nazis developed out of the extreme blowback of the Kaiser’s support of Vladimir Lenin to overthrow his own cousin— Tsar Nicholas during WWI. After Germany still lost the war— the net result was a bankrupt massively unemployed group of veterans-— who were the largest party in Weimar— the German Communist Party. So somehow a “less left” fake labor party of Hitler looked better. How little they learned.

That makes sense.

But leave it up to the Biden appointed idiots to foul it all up.

“Wouldn’t the Russians just hit the runways with cruise missiles?”

The Russians have started using some really old missiles, even ones that use liquid fuel. (Think SCUDS, but air launched.) They were designed to carry nuclear weapons but can deliver up to a ton of conventional explosives. Given that they were designed to carry an extremely powerful weapon the guidance is not what you’d need for a one-ton weapon to be effective against a particular target. They recently took out a shopping center. The probable target was an industrial plant.

The Russian “high tech” weapons turn out to use a lot of Western produced technology, which they can’t get. They have probably burned through a substantial amount of their inventory of precision weapons. Remember, any cruise missile built would mean less gold gilding on someone’s super yacht.

Whatever happened to all the anti-Reagan lefties who thought reagan was going to blow up the world? They seem to have a great deal of Selective Indignation.

Since Trump has been out of office, we’ve got doubled gas and food prices, high interest rates, illegals by the millions pouring in, they’re giving away hundreds of billions foreign countries, and they’ve crippled our ability to obtain energy at reasonable prices and they now want to force you to buy an electric car.

These aren’t policies, this is sabotage

I don’t think we would supply F-35’s. There are still some Harriers which are operational, Spain and Italy have them according to Wikipedia.

Ukrainian pilots, instructors and support personnel will all be trained at the same time in countries outside of Ukraine. Ukrainians have been trained by military personnel from the U.S. and other countries for a long time. Training is intensive, detailed, accurate and fast. No details are missed. Trainees are tested repeatedly until certainly proficient and detailed themselves. The aircraft won’t have all of the latest modifications but will be adequate for the job.

It’s part of an effort to limit enemy expansion and combination (axis) to make a large scale world war unlikely. It’s to avoid repeating our mistake of inaction and delays that led to the sizes and intensities of the last two world wars. If we do nothing, things get out of hand overseas and leave the U.S.A. threatened by a much larger combined enemy force. And that would be much more likely to lead to nuclear conflict than the present situation.

I was thinking that A10s would be more effective at hunting down tank and artillery units. Surface to air missiles would require less training and I suspect, more effective at a lower cost.

Harriers are a good idea, except that they are very difficult to learn to fly. Ukrainians can repair runways very quickly and have done so many times. With some new defensive hardware, they’re also pretty good at defending runways. There’s very little of the Russian flotilla remaining in the blockaded Black Sea now, and it’s way out there. Only a little more to go.
