Yes, they are different situations.

Does the fact that Highland Park involved a guy in a sniper position on a roof, negate the fact that a good guy with a gun stopped a slaughter in that mall in Indiana?

Why is Dick Durbin even eliciting such testimony from her, to get her to say that a good guy with a gun would not have been able to stop the Highland Park massacre? We will never know for sure, but even if true, what does that have to do with the concept, that a good man on scene can stop a madman bent on destruction?

You are not thinking of the adrenaline a player feels and that of someone without muscle memory. Eli did awesome in the mall and I believe he would have done awesome there. A few more killed I am sure, but head popped up to aim he would have shot him between the eyes. You need to practice at the range, but the adrenaline... it works out gaming. No jitter. If you can shoot, you are steady.

One other big difference. Indiana is now a Constitutional carry state and Illinois is not. Chicago-area politicians are hostile to the idea of armed citizens. You need Illinois’s permission to legally posses a firearm (F.O.I.D.)
