CHICAGO -- At least seven people were killed and 18 others have been wounded in shootings across Chicago so far this weekend.
Sunday morning, a 44-year-old man was found fatally shot in Roseland on the South Side. The man was found about 7:30 a.m. in the 10400-block of South Corliss Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hours earlier, two men died during a shootout in Lawndale on the West Side. They were in a car going south in the 800-block of South Albany Avenue about 2:40 a.m. when a red SUV approached and someone inside opened fire, leading to a shootout between both cars, police said.
A woman was killed and a man wounded during a fight on a porch Saturday night in East Garfield Park on the West Side. The two were sitting with others on a porch about 11:35 p.m. in the 3900-block of West Wilcox Street when the fight began and someone opened fire, police said. The woman, believed to be in her mid 20s, was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai, where she died, police said. The man, 27, was grazed in the mouth and taken to the same hospital, officials said. He was listed in good condition.
About 20 minutes later, a man was found fatally shot in an alley in Grand Crossing on the Far South Side. The man, 31, was found with six gunshot wounds - one to the head and five to the back - about 11:55 p.m. in the 1300-block of East 76th Street, police said.

I think chicago needs more gun control. Maybe FOID cards and waiting periods. Oh wait - they already have that. Well how about a mandatory gun turn in for all the guns from law abiding citizens like they did in Australia? That way there will be no danger to one of the Democrat’s major constituencies - violent criminals. And this has the further benefit of protecting the hero police when they start rounding up conservative citizens for the kangaroo courts.

After Labor Day, the weather starts to cool off and the count will probably drop. Kind of like watching the Cubs and White Sox, since by Labor Day it’s usually just down to checking the magic number for playoff elimination.
Gun control, gun laws, common sense, all never discussed in relation to news like this.
When is Biden scheduled to be in Chicago to sooth the families who lost loved ones?
As long as they are contained, I don’t have problem with it. In fact I advocate Chicago set up some kind of tip program where shooter is identified and tipped to other side. It would be economically effective to reduce criminals
Given Chicago PD’s caseload of unsolved homicides, how are they handled? Triage? Do they look for patterns? Could they identify whether they have a serial killer, or is it assumed they are all unrelated? Do they have a “volume“ approach or are are analyzed individually? Does anybody know?
Do they care? The proverbial self-cleaning oven.

They always announce the “weekend” carnage. No killings during the week? These people have jobs? go to school?

The 477 total for 2021 is the end of July 2021 number. The year end total for 2021 was over 800. So far 2022 is running behind, looking to end in the low 700’s if the trend holds.
