The US has sought to increase its engagement with Taiwan as the island nation resists the pressure campaign by China to accept its sovereignty over the island. Washington said Friday last week that it has approved a potential sale of military aid to Taiwan.
Reuters reports that the State Department has approved the sale of $108 million of military assistance to Taiwan, according to the Pentagon. This comes as Taipei has requested the latest military assistance, which includes spare and repair parts for tanks and combat vehicles, and US government and contractor technical and logistical support.
“The proposed sale will contribute to the sustainment of the recipient’s vehicles, small arms, combat weapon systems, and logistical support systems, enhancing its ability to meet current and future threats,” said the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency in a statement.

108 million? That’s only a couple of hundred toilet seats.
Taiwan is far more important to us than Ukraine
Selling to Taiwan but giving billions to The Ukes??? This administration is a JOKE
Yep. I noticed that too. 👍
Me three. I wonder how Taiwan feels about it.
Why not just give it to Taiwan?
Oh yeah, 10% for the Big Guy…
Always 10% for the big guy.
In the Big Picture they are equally important to us. Each represents an outpost of western style civilization threatened by the rising powers of old-time thug-ocracies.
If/when they fall, it will mark a major step in the decline of the West.
We will not like what follows.
Taiwan is far more of a US national security matter and of more strategic importance than Ukraine and yet, we just send them a hundred million or so and send the most corrupt world’s money laundromat 50-60 billion? Yeah, okie dokie, BidenIdiot and your beyond clueless filled administration.
Taiwan has most of the world’s semiconductor and chip plants if it were to fall it would be devastating
Sure, and Ukraine exports food to help feed the world's most hungry. But neither commodity is essential, long term, to western civilization.
What matters is democratic governments being able to defend each other against onslaughts from old-time thug-ocracies.
An Americentric pro Taiwan argument misses the point.
American security is not really the issue. the security if our friends and allies is the issue. The Philippines, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and even Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam are threatened.
Also, at present in the region, the Navies of the Quad Alliance, USA, India, Australia and Japan are patrolling the seas adjacent to Taiwan and China. These four are supported by several others including the Netherlands and the UK.
China is being actively squeezed upon the high seas
Regarding Taiwan and semiconductors. The Taiwanese manufacturing within China has already been withdrawn. To Where...... why to the USA! Also Vietnam and home to Taiwan.
Taiwan probably doesn’t launder $$ or provide children. Let’s not forget the Biden family business(s).
Quietly sell them a few nukes for a couple of billion.
