That's a fact. Just the excerpts I've heard of Cheney leading the witness make me sick. Still, many people are being convinced, but Garland has to know that it's not going to play out with both sides presented. He will take the heat and the left will claim that Trump got away with murder.

A one sided “trial” with no defense witnesses is devastating? They see what they want to see and ignore the obvious or edit out what they don’t want to consider.

These hearings are not politically devastating to President Trump - far from it - they actually help him.
For centuries the American public has mocked and made fun of third world countries and their Kangaroo courts. We have mocked and castigated Banana Republics and petty dictators. We know what a sho trial looks like.
The American people have been slow to recognize the threat of tyranny from within, but the Democrats are making it much easier to spot.
These Jan 6th hearings, the two fake impeachments, the stolen election and gaslighting and censorship that followed - this is not a good look for the Democrats. These hearings are being run exactly like Stalin’s show trials. There are no rebuttal witnesses, no cross examinations, no equal representation.
Plenty of voters are too dumb to get what’s going on, that’s true. But there are also plenty who do get it - and I think there will be a huge political backlash against Democrats for the choices they have made.
