Much of the world awoke Friday to news that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had been assassinated by a deranged suspect with a homemade shotgun.
Instead of eulogizing Abe and expressing condolences to the Japanese people, CBS Mornings decided it would join the Associated Press and National Public Radio (NPR) in smearing Abe as “a polarizing figure,” “right-wing nationalist, and conservative” whose “political opinions were controversial.”

His grandfather was big in Japan during the war. In Japanese terms, Abe was very much a part of the permanent governing elite.

Uh, pretty sure they should be focusing on the issue of him being shot in a gun free(99%?) country. Maybe, like Chicongo, Japan needs more gun laws. (Pretty sure they actually did tighten up even more recently.)

Abe is assassinated, Biden says nothing, and the US government media comes out in seeming unison, attacking Abe.
Gives one the idea they are somehow they are all connected.
I don’t think anyone in the US knows enough to call the assassin, Tetsuya Yamagami, “deranged.” It isn’t like we know anything about him other than he served in the JMSDF.
He was a conservative nationalist. He wanted to expand the Japanese military because of North Korean and Chinese aggression. He was also pushing to defend Taiwan against China because he knew if Taiwan falls, China could focus on other local nations, such as Japan. He was just looking at the overall Asian situation and being realistic.
I find it interesting that “extreme right wing” not only exists, but is consdered to be one word by the media.

CBS, et al., want to make it clear that those with “controversial views” (i.e., views not in lockstep with their own) deserve assassination. They are encouraging left-wingers to try harder to assassinate SC justices and Republican leaders, so they can wring their hands for more gun control.
