Authorities revealed Tuesday afternoon that the suspect who allegedly shot dozens of people at a parade on Monday had a history of run-ins with law enforcement officials. “I’m going to relay some information from two prior instances that occurred here in Highland Park,” Christopher Covelli, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, said at a press conference. “The first was in April of 2019. An individual contacted Highland Park Police Department a week after learning of [the suspect] attempting suicide. This was a delayed report, so Highland Park still responded to the residence a week later, spoke with [the suspect], spoke with [the suspect’s] parents, and the matter was being handled by mental health professionals at that time, there was no law enforcement action to be taken. It was a mental health issue and handled by those professionals.”

April 2019 was when some of his material was removed online, either by him, or by the urging of someone with clout or a valid complaint. Was that removing his suicide threats or was he suicidal because his material was censored?

Pretty sure you at least need to get one person to sign an affidavit or something if you expect to have any chance of invoking a “red flag” law to deprive someone of their Constitutional rights.

2nd police incident the Highland Police notified Illinois State Police. Twice, parents called police to their home regarding their son. First time, mental health authorities handled it and no police report.
But his parents and family said he was normal, good kid.
State Police were notified, what did they do with that information? How did he not get flagged?
His family were very influential locally - that may have been a factor.
Fox website said the freak’s parents were a problem and police cars were frequently in front of their house with ongoing fights and “trouble.”
Not proper FR behavior for me to suggest this, but I just saw the Twilight Zone Episode no.49 “Back There” in which a modern person slips back into the day before Lincoln was shot and cannot convince people to listen except for one guy who can’t do anything anyway.
So.....what if the nerd had gone wild earlier at his parents’ home and the cops told him to stop and put up his hands but he ran and the cops shot and killed him. Cops go to jail after trial, police review board intimidates the remaining cops, politicians attack police but dozens are not injured and 7 people did not die in July, 2022.
How convenient. Problems a few years earlier. They let it go. I know it’s like how long do you set and watch them. They can not watch all of them I guess but there is a red line pointed straight at some of these mass killers.. And again I wait for the info on the gun used. Likely this is a ghost gun.
