Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
THANK YOU
for your service!
Thanks Kathy!
Happy hump day...we’re getting a real soaker tonight!
Howdy, Kathy.
Did you make it to Hump Day with any sanity left intact?
Bible in a Year:
The king . . . renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord—to follow the Lord and keep his commands.
The ornate ceremonial bow and quiver had hung on the wall of our home in Michigan for years. I’d inherited them from my father, who acquired the souvenirs while we were serving as missionaries in Ghana.
Then one day a Ghanaian friend visited us. When he saw the bow, he got a strange look on his face. Pointing to a small object tied to it he said, “That is a fetish—a magic charm. I know it has no power, but I would not keep it in my house.” Quickly we cut the charm from the bow and discarded it. We didn’t want anything in our home intended for the worship of something other than God.
Josiah, king in Jerusalem, grew up with little knowledge of God’s expectations for His people. When the high priest rediscovered the Book of the Law in the long-neglected temple (2 Kings 22:8), Josiah wanted to hear it. As soon as he learned what God had said about idolatry, he ordered sweeping changes to bring Judah into compliance with God’s law—changes far more drastic than merely cutting a charm from a bow (see 2 Kings 23:3–7).
Believers today have more than King Josiah did—much, much more. We have the entire Bible to instruct us. We have each other. And we have the vital filling of the Holy Spirit, who brings things to light, large and small, that we might otherwise overlook.
Reflect & Pray
Can you describe a time when a believer wisely pointed out a change you needed to make? What things in your life might be offensive to God?
Heavenly Father, by the work of the Holy Spirit, help me steer clear of anything that’s offensive to You.
Howdy, PRO.
How y’all doin’ on heat out there? We’ve got extra and I wish we could send it to ya. LOL
Good evening, radu...I know it is hot at your house, but it is HOT here right now! 77 and twice that on the deck...I’m close to turning on a fan.
Do you have any chance of rain soon? I know the corn would be grateful.
Funny thing, we've had crappy weather all Spring, then yesterday, the 1st day of summer everything cleared up and it got to 85 and sunny, hot weather forecasted into the next week, about time, my A/C is humming.
Folks around here are happy.
Anything new with you or the 'lil furry darlins'?
Howdy, lightman.
I am SOOOOOO jealous of all the rain you’ll get tonight. At least one of us is getting lucky. LOL
That should do wonders for your garden and keep your well from even considering running dry for a while. :-)

Dang! Where did that heat come from? I’ve seen temps mentioned in LH chat recently and they were mid to upper 60s.
Get that fan ready to go!
A bit hazy with smoke up there again, I noticed earlier this afternoon when I checked the cam.
It’s awful hot here. 96 degrees this afternoon when I took Bella to the vet and the heat index was over 100. The car never really cooled off and both Bella and I were happy to get back home.
We’re looking forward to Monday when temps drop back into the 80s.
MIGHT get a little rain Sunday night into Monday morning. We hope the corn can hang on that long.
You sure did have a crappy spring. I still can’t believe how long it stayed cool up there. Crazy! At least the rain you got built your water table up real well.
Our poor AC has been huffin’ and puffin’ the past couple of weeks. We don’t keep the house cold; just cool enough to keep us from sweating.
Not much new going on. Haven’t been going anywhere due to the heat. I did take Bella to the vet for a check-up so the vet could see how her new med is working. We’re making a slight adjustment in the dosage and hope it will do the trick.
The rest of the kittehs are their usual obnoxious selves. LOL
Sorry I didn’t realize it had editorializing by the Youtube poster afterwards.
Quarter inch so far and more to come....but we’ve been dry since the 14th.
Every drop is wonderful!
23 June... my first day of Basic Training....
There’s a nice, big swath on the radar so you should get a decent soaking tonight. Your garden goodies should be very happy.
We’ve been dry since the 9th and didn’t get much rain that week. Been in drought condition for about a month. Not good when the county is full of farms with crops trying to grow.
