Newsome is Pelosi’s nephew and he also has a connection to the Getty family, of the Getty Oil fortune. He has a lot of money and serious Democratic party connections at his disposal.
So while he’s a mental lightweight he’s a connected mental lightweight with a good shot at being the Democrat nominee. A California version of Ted Kennedy.
