MILWAUKEE —
Abortion could suddenly become illegal in Wisconsin so Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is adding more abortion appointments through June 25. After that, they're suspending appointments and directing patients to facilities out of state. The reason behind this move is to not disrupt care for those seeking an abortion as the country waits for a decision from the Supreme Court.
In May, a leaked draft opinion stated that the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade, a 1973 landmark case granting abortion rights for women.
If that happens, Wisconsin's 1849 law banning abortion would immediately go into effect. This law bans abortion without any exception for rape or incest. Abortion would only be allowed if the woman's life is in danger.
"We're looking at all our legal options that are available. We also have to look at the landscape of who is making decisions in Wisconsin, and what we want is to ensure abortion access in Wisconsin forever," said Tanya Atkinson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

Don’t get upset. A reasoned drive, and you’ll still be able
to kill your unborn child.
“ Abortion in Wisconsin is legal up to the 22nd week of pregnancy. 53% of Wisconsin adults said in a poll by the Pew Research Center that abortion should be legal in all or most cases. The Center for Reproductive Rights labels the state as hostile towards abortion rights, e.g. 20-week ban, telemedicine ban, TRAP requirements, admitting privileges requirement, transfer agreement requirement, reporting requirement, parental consent required, mandatory counseling, mandatory ultrasound, and waiting period requirements.[1]
There is an abortion-rights activist community in the state. One such organization based in Wisconsin is Wisconsin Alliance for Reproductive Health. Wisconsin women participated in the #YouKnowMe movement and the #StoptheBans movement in 2019. There is also an anti-abortion community, much of it centered on religious groups. Protesters were regularly outside Affiliated Medical Services in 2013. There has been some anti-abortion violence, including a bomb attack against a Planned Parenthood clinic in April 2012.”
Planned Parenthood is practicing DISINFORMATION. Roe vs Wade will have no effect on abortions. Planned Parenthood is trying to incite violence.
I do not understand the time line here.
Was the 1849 law in force when Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973?
You can be prosecuted for traveling somewhere else to break the law in your home state. Likewise conspiring to encourage others to do so.
Wasn’t that Bloomberg’s logic when confiscating cars coming back to NYC for people who bought cigarettes and fireworks?
If you fly to an island run by a bunch of pedo pimps, you should be prosecuted. I guess it’s okay if you are Bill Clinton.
Gosh. What a shame.
So, they’re saying is that’s the date the decisions expected?
June 25th, 2022
Here’s to hoping Wisconsin continues its path to becoming another Oregon.....
IS THIS GOOD NEWS OR WHAT.
Wisconsin is going to lose its Baby Killer Certification.
Wisconsin’s 1849 law banning abortion would immediately go into effect.
Nothing like not wanting to rush into things huh Moe.
They can drive to Chicago.
The locals love killing folks there.
Yes, but the Supreme Court decision superseded any local laws prohibiting abortion. However, if the law has not been repealed by the legislature then if Roe is struck down then the law becomes effective again.
If you hired a hit man, it might be easier....try that?
Interesting concept. I hadn’t given that any thought. Not
sure if it is true here, but you may be right on target.
I’m not familiar with the NY situation. That’s interesting.
Can’t say as I think that’s an appropriate penalty.
Yeah, just stand out in front of homes in certain districts.
