As a retired Army officer, I never could figure out why someone would want to make a career out of the Navy. The lifestyle stinks. The way they treat their people stinks and the their whole system is about 200 years behind the times.

I can tell you why I did; 4 years of sea duty, 4 years as an active duty recruiter, and 12 years Navy reserve recruiting duty in my home town, followed by a small but decent pension and very low cost health care till I’m 65. Oh yeah, and 10% off at Lowes.
