Look, you have a handful of senile old coots repeating mindlessly slogans from the MSM and the Biden administration who know nothing and want to learn nothing. When you are incapable learning new things, you default to looking at the world the way it was when you were younger. For this contingent, they haven’t figured out that Russia is not the USSR of that Putin isn’t Stalin, Krushchev, Andropov, or Brezhnev. Worse, they don’t understand what has happened socially, culturally, institutionally, and politically in the US in the last 35 years or so. They think they are still living in Reagan’s “Morning in America”. It makes their lives simple and comfortable.
So, trying to treat them as “normal” is pointless. I’ve tried, for example, to explain the history of the Ukraine conflict, the damage Biden’s policies are doing to us and our erstwhile allies and how they have helped Russia, how we are foolishly benefitting China, how the media are lying about nearly everything relating to the conflict, what’s actually happening on the ground, how the Ukrainians are being used as pawns in a proxy war, and so on.
I think we should leave them to their Ensure and cable TV. They are invincibly ignorant.
