“You can’t pardon anyone before they are charged.”

Didn’t Ford pre-emptively pardon Nixon in the event he might be charged sometime in the future?

IIRC, Carter pardoned draft dodgers before they were charged.

I’m not positive — just things I think remember.

“If I recall correctly Nixon was already in the process of getting impeached before Ford’s pardon was issued.”

The way I remember it, he was told impeachment proceedings would start if he didn’t resign. But who really knows what was going on behind the scenes?

My sister and BIL were SO closed to standing. I forget what happened to make them change plans, but thank Heaven they did.

“There are many voters willing to pull the Presidential “R” lever for other than Trump. To them, Trump has too much negative baggage.”

Yeah, negative baggage totally concocted by the corrupt Dems. Sure, throw Trump over the bridge for having been attacked and/or impeached continuously based on a lie of Russian collusion for the entire 4 years of his Presidency. They create the lie, and wobbly and fearful former Trump supporters give the Dems just what they always wanted; Trump out of office for good.

The “loyalty” of former Trump supporters who let the Dems intimidate them by the false flag they produced against Trump for 4 years, makes me sick. Cowards. Trump in 2024 - MAGA.

Absolutely perfect response to those on here who are cowed by the lies of the left. "Baggage" that was concocted by the left, lies that some now think means Trump should be sacked in favor of someone else who might not fight as well, or as effectively against the left.

It's sad to see so many taking that point of view, as if someone else wont be tarred and feathered like that, as if someone else can withstand the horrors of the leftist smear machine.

Most of this happened AFTER he left office!!!!

January 6th was two weeks before Trump left office.

You can’t pardon anyone before they are charged.

Gerald Ford did it with Richard Nixon and Trump did it with Joe Arpaio. Nothing prevents it.

however prosecute Michael Byrd for the murder of Ashli Babbitt and let him rot in prison has got to come first.

The shooting was ruled to be justified so there's nothing to charge Byrd with.

Yes……and?

So he could have pardoned them before he left office, which is what the original poster was suggesting.

I never knew Trump has a money printing machine at Mar-a-Lago. Lawyers for hundreds of people would be astronomically expensive.

Well, he did collect $250M for the Election Defense Fund. It's a fair question to ask why he could pay his son's girlfriend $60k for a two minute speech and hasn't spent a dime for the people that showed up on Jan 6.

“So he could have pardoned them before he left office, which is what the original poster was suggesting.”

Trump had no idea they were going to round up demonstrators by the hundreds and incarcerate them forever. No idea at all. What do you think, that he is a mind reader? And you don’t think he wasn’t fighting a bunch of other battles and dealing with a myriad of other issues at that time of the transition of gov’t to the Dems? Your expectations are way out of bounds considering what was all going on at the time.

Trump nor anyone else could have foreseen what evil the Dems were willing to perpetrate on the Jan 6th demonstrators. Trump would have had to issue some kind of blanket pardon to all protesters as who would know which ones the Dems would go after with their gestapo goons. But no one, including Trump could have foreseen what was going to be the fate of these protesters ahead of time, and Trump was out of office 2 weeks after the event and before anyone knew the extent to which the Dems would take in establishing their dictatorship in our country. Deal with our current battle which in the scheme of things, is infinitely and more immediately important.

Give the guy a break. What is, is. Deal with it. You’re fixated on a set of events that can’t be undone other than a pardon after the fact by Trump when he wins the 2024 election. That and going after the perpetrators of this fiasco by him and a Pub Admin once back in office.
