WAY too many popups. If they can’t build the needed microcircuits, they’ll have to go back to the way cars were built in the 1960’s. And with inflation the way it is, who will be able to afford cars? They should have thought this through before making a public statement as it shows how disconnected they are from the reality on the ground.

So far as I can tell the Soviet assembly plants use engines and transmissions imported from overseas. Looks like they need to spin up their heavy industrial and machining capability.

That’ll just take a few decades.

They might sell more cars if they stop making the camshafts out of bakelite.

No sympathy for Putin but if inter-country trade makes each individual country unable to survive without materials from other countries, it’s not a good thing.

They have to find some suckers for all those dry rotted tires from the 50’s in military warehouses.

I don’t believe a word of this.

Everything is better in Russia after the sanctions,
and everyone knows it.

“According to Russian statistic agency Rosstat, car prices have jumped nearly 50% since the start of the year, slamming demand in a country where household incomes have declined while inflation has been hovering near 20-year highs.”

How is the POSSIBLE?

The RuZZian trolls say statistics against RuZZia are all fake (even if issued by RuZZia’s statistics agency).

Inflation is not a problem because the Ruble is so strong.

RuZZian income is up, or something.

Who really needs airbags, anti-lock brake systems, nav in their cars? That is a Western conspiracy to drive up the price of cars.

It was a Renault. Now, it’s not Renault but runs like a Renault. ;D

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AvtoVAZ
Wikipedia

“AvtoVAZ was established in 1966 by the Soviet government as a state-run car manufacturer. It was privatized in the 1990s and was a subsidiary of Renault from October 2016 to May 2022. In May 2022, it was re-acquired by the Russian government. The company is indirectly owned by Russian state enterprises through Lada Auto Holding.”
[...]
“Effects stemming from the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine
On 3 March 2022 AvtoVAZ announced the suspension of the assembly of cars in Tolyatti and Izhevsk from 5 March. The company issued a press release blaming ‘the ongoing crisis in the supply of electronic components.’[113]”

They can’t build the electronic components, so they’ll try to build them like the earlier Soviet cars. Some pics behind the following link. In spite of the propaganda for the typically government-owned company, the cars were pretty much Fiats (crap).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada
“Lada[note 1][1][2] (Cyrillic: Лада, Russian pronunciation: [ˈladə]), marketed as LADA,[note 2] is a brand of cars manufactured by AvtoVAZ (originally VAZ), a Russian state-owned company.”

Putin also said the government needed to look not only at production issues,
but also at how to stimulate demand despite the economic difficulties facing the country.
