The movie was pretty good, don’t get me wrong, but I would give it a 7, if it’s lucky.

I felt like the personality dynamics were weak, even though you can tell they wanted more from them. Particularly between Maverick and Rooster (Goose’s son). The sudden change toward cooperation under great need and the whole emotional reckoning thing was predictable and yet not genuinely dramatic.
Then there was Penny Benjamin. I have probably seen the original a dozen times if you piece them together (almost never sat through the whole thing) and I kept asking myself who she was and why she was so important.
Val Kilmer’s character was supposed to appear ill and frail, but I never would have expect his performance to be. For example, in Tombstone his character had Tuberculosis, and his character pretty much stole the show.

It was somewhat patriotic. It was a more or less typical action plot arc. Its a good movie to see as long as you don’t expect too much

Penny Benjamin was the Generals daughter mentioned in the first Top Gun. Maverick got in some sort of trouble with the general over it

Val Kilmers performance was perfect considering he really DOES have throat cancer, and is in real life, a very sick and frail man.

How many times has Israel already done a similar mission?

I know, they can’t tell us.

Imagine 633 Squadron filmed as realistic as Tip Top Gun (oh wait! I should copyright that title). Far deadlier mission to more participents
