I hope he’s not “independent”. I hope he’s getting his scripts directly from the Kremlin. That way we know what the Kremlin has to say. If an equally compromised source is getting its scripts directly from Kiev, that would be perfect!

You can easily live on $6500 / 8 months in small-town Russia. I think Mr. Lancaster lives in DPR. It is probably even cheaper. There isn’t going to be black caviar but all the of necessities will be covered and even some time for fun.

I studiously avoid “mainstream media” about anything. They can have whatever fun they want with whomever they want. I want to know how the war is going. Period.

You mean if they have a narrative that the sky is blue, I must insist that it’s orange? Russian man bad has been the case for 350 years. So has poor Ukraine, even when Ukraine was doing heinous things of its own. It’s a tragic region.
The fact that its two national heroes, Chmelnicki and Banderas, were simultaneously mass murderers, fighting for the liberation of their people, and also total suckers who got played for the fools that they were by trying to take sides in the struggle between major powers, tells you a lot. Even Alexander Nevsky made the same tragic error. He fought off the Roman Catholic invaders, and to insure against further invasions and any attempt to take his people away from the Orthodox Church, he willingly submitted to the Mongols. Not smart.
I’m one to talk, though. The Maccabees, to get free of the post-Alexandrine Greeks, threw in with the Romans. Dumb. It was similarly dumb for Chmelnicki to accept the protection of the Czar to get “free” of the Poles. That sure worked out great. Dumb for Banderas to greet the Nazis as liberatorsin order to get “free” of the Communists. They kept the collectivization travesty in place, only instead of confiscating crops for the benefit of the big city communists, they confiscated crops for the benefit of the Wehrmacht. Great result, huh? But they did get to be enslaved for their troubles, and they still did get to starve and commit heinous crimes against the Jooos!, whom Stalin had set up in advance to be the fall guys for his crimes against the Ukrainians.
But right now, Ukraine has made a lot of progress, though it certainly is not all that. In Eastern Europe, it doesn’t pay to be over choosy. I’ll back Zelensky, warts and all. He’s not the threat. Putin is.

Yes, and Trump also waited and observed him in office, to see if all that anti-corruption talk was for real. He was satisfied at the time that Z was a sincere reformer. Whether he is now or not is a moot point. Pootie not only invaded Ukraine twice, but he also invaded Georgia, and has stated his intention to invade the other former Republics and satellite states, and that can’t be allowed to happen. Best time and place to stop it is now by supporting Ukraine against Pootie.
Maybe Pootie is just mis-understood. Maybe deep down he’s ever so sensitive. But right now he’s waging war against a sovereign state, which is fighting back surprisingly well. And good on Z for that.

A “sovereign country”...you mean the “sovereign country” with respect to which NATO/US deposed a democratically elected government by coup, which coup installed government has been conducting a war against men, women, and children in the Donbass for over 8 years now because eastern/southern Ukraine wouldn’t accept the coup government? You watch too much cable. The war is a proxy war, and it is a disaster. If you actually cared about Ukrainians, you’d know that. Instead, you post a slogan worthy of a bumpersticker.
Suppose Russia put dozens of biowarfare labs in Mexico, shipped billions of dollars of advanced weapons to Mexico, and Mexico developed 10s of thousands of lbs of plutonium and weapons grade enriched uranium and began shelling the “renegade” state of Texas (You know...that Mexican state that didn’t want to be governed by the Santa Anna dictatorship installed by a coup). What do you think we would do? Did you fall for the Covid hoax, too?
This is a catastrophe caused by the Biden crime family and the neocons. It is destroying the dollar as the world’s reserve currency and as a domestic store of value. I hope you like being really poor, because that is what is coming. It’s going to be even worse for the EUSSR countries.

The Ukrainians are doing it for us and for their own selves. I have no weapons to sell them. NATO, the EU, the UK and the US do. And they’re outright giving it, selling it, lend-leasing it to them, if somewhat belatedly. They are doing the fighting. That’s the deal in a nutshell. Standard proxy war.
They may win or lose. But Russia will know it’s been in a fight, and will think carefully before invading, say, Poland or Moldavia, even if they do win in Ukraine, which they might not.
