From tour guides to tattoo artists, some in Taiwan are taking shooting lessons for the first time in their lives as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine ratchets up anxiety at the prospect of giant neighbour China making a similar move on the democratic island.
China’s growing military pressure on the island it claims as its own, combined with the conflict in Ukraine, has spurred debate about how to boost defences in Taiwan, which is weighing whether to extend compulsory military service.
Since the war in Ukraine started three months ago, bookings have nearly quadrupled for lessons in how to shoot airsoft guns, or low-power devices designed to shoot non-metallic projectiles, said an official of a combat skills training company in Taiwan.
“More and more people are coming to take part,” said Max Chiang, chief executive of Polar Light, which is based in a suburb of the capital, Taipei.

I knew a Taiwan citizen.
He came to the USA to go hunting.
He said Taiwan has hunting opportunities but they can’t have a firearm.
In fact, the Taiwain govt banned citizens from having higher end pellet rifles and those they could have, had to be keep locked up at a “gun club”.
So much for Taiwan being a “free” country.
No gun rights, why support them?
No freedom to self and family defense, no freedom.
China worse though.
As for the US, the 3 main enemies, from lesser to greater are:
.1. Russia (relatively minor threat)
.2. China (serious threat)
.3. The US Democratic Party and its camp followers/RINO’s...a THREAT in magnitude greater.

I’ve been to Taiwan, back in the 80’s.
Also Japan and So. Korea.
Taiwan was the only one where smiles seemed genuine.
Korea was paranoid to an extreme, Japan has an ugly dark side to their gov. and judicial system.
I support “One China”, just put Taiwan in charge.
I don’t believe the US willl stop China. Maybe sanctions but they would be very limited. Taiwan has known for decades this is coming - just a matter of how western nations are weakened sufficiently for China to make their move.
Taiwan is US footprint dead center off their coastline - and all their major trade routes they want control of.

Jesse Kelly (iHeart talk-radio) advertises an at-home kit for practicing one’s shooting skills.
Maybe it’ll hook up to air rifles before the populace gets real rifles? Unless, of course, should RED China use artillary to flatten Taiwan. (Like Russia is, to gain Ukraine territory).

Well that’s just it - they think they can control it all and or have no concern for the costs of life nor limb as long as their agenda moves forward. Ukraine is a prime example.
