How does only part of a sentence run concurrently? I was confused by this statement in the article. A concurrent sentence starts the moment the Judge hands down the sentence. Avenatti was already serving a sentence for the NIKE scam. His new concurrent sentence runs at the same time as the NIKE sentence.
Perhaps he was convicted on separate counts and the Judge gave him consecutive time on one of those counts?
