...This was to be the successful road back to normalcy for public schools. But after two large COVID-19 surges, a year of angry school board meetings, parents claiming teachers were grooming kids for abuse, and fights over everything from mask mandates for students to what books they can read, teachers were already at a breaking point with nearly 500 quitting even if it meant losing their license.
On top of all of that, Texas passed a law last year prohibiting teachers from discussing “a widely debated and currently controversial issue of public policy or social affairs," the state's so-called "critical race theory" law. And both state lawmakers and Gov. Greg Abbott have called into question books in school libraries about race, gender and sexuality and asked education officials to develop standards to keep "pornographic" books from school shelves, after singling out titles that include LGTBQ characters.
...
Public education advocates and teachers themselves, fear that this latest incident will be the breaking point for teachers that were already considering leaving the profession since the pandemic hit. All while Texas is already facing a teacher shortage.
...
Those increase in student behavior problems are one of the reasons, Darrell Nichols, 30, quit his job in April at a Brazos Valley charter school, near College Station, after teaching for seven years.
“I've been bitten; I've been scratched; I've been punched in my line of work over the last two years, with this last year in particular,” Nichols said....“I didn’t get into the classroom, on the one hand, to be accused of grooming my students and on the other hand being asked to take an AR-15 clip for them,” Nichols said. “And no one I know got into the teaching profession for that.”

Public education is a lose-lose situation, getting worse. The good teachers will leave, resulting in a shrunk pool of ill-qualified MSNBC viewers who'd never pack heat in the first place.
Good pic

...I’d say the Uvalde SD is freaking mess.
Put in the picture that the Shepard believes that sheep can be aborted post-birth, and that sheep should be forced to get an experimental injection and wear masks while grazing, and its complete.
I wouldn’t want a tictok teacher with a gun, no.
We will be seeing a lot of this same crap in the coming weeks. The theme, “Why are you picking on teachers?” We will be told that parents have no right to voice objections to classroom materials or school policy because the trauma caused by the school shooting in Texas.
So not only is this horrible event being used to demand gun control but to demand parents be silenced unless they agree with the latest agenda embraced by teachers.
...and now we want to give them a Glock?
The chief problem is that public schools stand in loco parentis and that basically stacks the odds in favor of the house. Parents - wittingly or not - have handed their kids over to the state during school. The state - wittingly - runs with that power.
The state goes with the flow...society was ok with corporal punishment years ago, but not now (frankly I'd have throttled anyone who touched a little DoodleBob). Society is ok with a bunch of stuff now, and that gets approved by the administrators. The teachers have to navigate through sex ed, CRT, and (to be fair) parents more interested in dual incomes vs Johnny's grasp of algebra.
The beneficiaries of this Three-card Monty are the NEA (who want your kids vaxxed and masked like they're in a kennel), Zen-fascist teachers, administrators, and the handful of parents and kids who thrive in this property tax-funded environment. The rest of us - including frustrated teachers - are losers.
Every day a parent fights the educational-industrial complex is a day lost on their kids. I can spend a lifetime defending the 2nd Amendment but a parent has only so many years with a child. The parent's best option is to simply abandon ship, and homeschool. Your child is too important to make them a pawn in this rigged game. And, the reality is, homeschooling doesn't need to make up 90% of the nation...at some point the percentage becomes a minority that punches above its weight.
I've had the debate that all we need to do is reform schools, make teachers accountable, take back the PTA blah blah blah. The reality is, as long as there is demand fueled by the commanding mindset that "we gotta collectively educate the kidz or else, ya know, remember Sputnik and how other nations' kidz are better at geography," the taxes will stay and we are stuck with teachers who think like Chuck Schumer who I'd never want to be in charge of protecting my child in an active shooter situation (and who probably hates guns to boot).
The public school is obsolete. We are just beginning to realize it.

It seems the woes of the Texas school teachers were created by themselves.
And now they are whining that they are no longer allowed to groom the kids.
Stop spreading his LIES .
Congratulations on summarizing the insanity of the majority of today's so-called Left, which is not really Left as mindlessly corporatist and Malthusian and manipulated by a media which thinks them simpletons. Like sheep, they are herded and docile under the velvet-gloved fascists, unable to see that this is the same-old-same-old as has always been.
Watson had an amusing video about them. "I SUPPORT THE CURRENT THING!" Ridicule aimed squarely at these infected virtue signalers.

Woke (I prefer to call it marxism) started in 1965 with Lydon's 'great society'. It infected first our colleges, where the public indoctrination started. It then worked it's way into corporate via the brain-drained super educated indoctrinees. Now it has filtered down to the local level to infect our public schools. What's common to all of this? Government is involved in all of it.
These woke folk claim that a great reset is needed. They don't realize how correct they are. Except at the end of the great reset that is needed to save America, the 'woke' are behind bars or are hanging from trees.
In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. From that time forward
this country has been in major change and will continue. After 1492
change began with importing people from Africa to do the home
chores and manual labor activities. Then we had a civil war and WWII.
America began changes impacting society again with all the freedoms
that were happening.
Now we have been to the moon and walked on it, communication
is almost instantious, knowledge has expanded greatly, change is
occurring at a pace we've never experienced.
It takes time for people to adjust and adapt to new rules, etc
that govern the world as a whole and locally. I wish I'd be
here to see whats going to happen but age says I won't.
Those who can, do. Those who cannot do, teach. Teachers teach because they are incapable of anything else. Are there some who are really good? Yeah. But it’s well known that the enrollees in Schools of Education within colleges are the lowest tier of academia. Many who find that they cannot cut it in STEM majors switch their major to Education and viola! They are too stupid to be a biologist, but they can teach it!
OMG!!! You mean teachers cannot indoctrinate other people’s children with Critical Race Theory or Groom them to be trans testicles? On top of that, normal people such as parents rather than Leftist wackos are being elected to school boards?
How will they ever cope with such calamities???????
