In the Military, they call the hour after a traumatic battle wound has been received the “Golden Hour.” It is within this Golden Hour that if the victim receives advanced medical care they stand an extremely high chance of survival. This is why the Military spends so much money on Medevac helicopters, etc.
Think of those poor children. Even if they were all shot within the first few minutes of the attack, they were left there to bleed out for the next 45 minutes or more before any medical attention could be administered to them.
Had the police immediately stormed the shooter and neutralized him, that would have been more precious minutes to get those children the medical care they so desperately needed, and could have dramatically reduced the fatality rate of the attack.
That is true, and what the police did in this case simply cannot be explained by any rational reasoning. It will surely lead to theories that what they did was done intentionally.
From the diagram shown in the article, and photographs of the school building, it appears that every classroom has a large number of windows opening to the outside. I can't see any reason why the heavily armed police outside could not have engaged the shooter through the windows of the classroom from the outside.
I wouldn’t be surprised if close range mass shooters kill their victims with head shots...go around again and finish them off, disfigure them to add to the families’ pain.
What kind of malign envy has this age spawned: “I hurt, so the world must bleed.”
” . . . [h]ad the police immediately stormed the shooter and neutralized him . . .”
