Police on the scene during the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday reportedly handcuffed a woman who wanted law enforcement to enter the building sooner, and used a Taser on a father who tried to pull his own son off a school bus.
The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday:
“The police were doing nothing,” said Angeli Rose Gomez, who after learning about the shooting drove 40 miles to Robb Elementary, where her children are in second and third grade. “They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”

Ms. Gomez, a farm supervisor, said that she was one of numerous parents waiting outside the school who began encouraging—first politely, and then with more urgency—police and other law enforcement to enter the school sooner. After a few minutes, she said, U.S. Marshals put her in handcuffs, telling her she was being arrested for actively intervening in an active investigation.

After the confrontation ended with [shooter Salvador] Ramos dead, school buses began to arrive to transport students from the school, according to Ms. Gomez. She said she saw police use a Taser on a local father who approached the bus to collect his child.

How terrible it must have been to be a parent begging cops ON SCENE to do something as shots kept ringing out.
Never forget that in the back of every one of those cops’ minds was the real, established fear they would be the ones prosecuted should the perp turn out to be minority. Probably made their stomaches turn as well to be paralyzed with fear in a life&death situation because of the left.

I wonder if a cop participates in a regular poker game with a few of his neighbors. Then I wonder if his poker pals might initiate a heavily physical conversation. Will he arrest his neighbors or return to human status?
Cops are just guys who live down the street. That’s where they are going to be corrected.

With all due respect to you, that’s the job. If they don’t like it then they should be doing something else. I agree it’s a lose lose but showing up and not doing what is needed is BS. We have always known that when seconds count, cops are minutes away. Now they are learning that even when the cops are on the scene they are an hour away. Unacceptable.
It’s true, the police dept admitted some officers retrieved their kids. Of course they may change their story again like with the earlier detail about the school resource officer being armed. What a totally unprofessional clown police force.

From other reports the kid led the border patrol on a chase for 80+ miles then crashed into the school and somehow knew enough to commandeer the classroom, lock the door and barricade himself and we’re supposed to think this was all a crime of emotion from an argument?!
Now we find that the police not only setup a perimeter and did nothing (aka Miami - paging David Hogg) but actively hindered people from trying to rescue the dying CHILDREN still inside?!

These cops really displayed their cowardice here. I can’t imagine any normal adult standing back while some nutcase is gunning down 10 year old children. Every one one of them should be fired except for the border control guy.
