NATO’s reason for being evaporated in the early 1990’s. It should have been disbanded.

It might have been possible if Russia had had the foresight to give up their nukes in the early nineties. They didn't, so here we are.

Do you think that Russia and China and other hostile nations would not have taken advantage of the less capable nations?

No doubt that there would have been many major confrontations in Europe and in Asia and in Africa and in the middle-east and in South America.

But, since we didn't have any major conflict or wars, perhaps there was never a need for NATO or any other defensive pact. Which came first? Wars/conflicts, or deterrent measures? Which causes the other?
